Places to visit
The beautiful sandy beaches of Bournemouth are only 45 minutes away by car. Bournemouth also has a lively shopping centre with bars, clubs and theatres. It is possible in one day to visit the historic cities of Bath, Winchester and Salisbury.
The New Forest is a National Park located to the north of Lymington. In reality it is nearly 1,000 years old. Governed by ancient laws and grazed by ponies, cattle, pigs and donkeys, the New Forest covers 220 square miles or 57,000 hectares.
It is possible to cycle, ride a horse, or simply enjoy the landscape and the wild ponies or highland cattle that will walk in front of your car without any warning!
There is a ferry which crosses the water from Lymington to the Isle of Wight. This is a great day out for students. There is a funfair on the island, but a hair-raising ride on the open top double-decker bus to the famous Needles rocks is an unforgettable experience! The views are spectacular.
Christchurch is another historic town where students can enjoy a walk round the grounds of the Priory or take a chance with the swans that populate the waterside area.
